Hair Care

Color treated or not its important to use good product in your hair. You should also be aware of the ingredients you are using in your personal care products (not just hair care). I am a big fan of Living Proof products. They are all sulfate free, paraben free, and silicone free. More important than healthy hair... its important to know that parabens are a chemical put in many personal care products that can spur growth of certain cancer cells. Be aware of what you are using ladies!

Using a shampoo that is sulfate free is going to keep your color lasting longer. Many shampoos have harsh sulfates that strip your hair of its natural oils that your hair actually needs (colored or not). Using a sulfate free shampoo is going to leave your hair a lot softer and shinier.

My favorite shampoo and conditioner in the Living proof line is Restore.

There's some serious science behind this line but I'm not going to get into that. Basically they have created a new molecule called the healthy hair molecule. It's going to go inside your hair strand and physically change your hair and make it healthier. You are paying a higher price for a reason. Drug store shampoos and conditioners are stripping your hair leaving your cuticle rough and then coating it in a wax (similar to floor wax) to make it appear smooth and shiny. This is going to leave a build up on your hair weighing it down and not making any real improvements.

After the shower, it's important you are using good styling products as well. I use the Restore leave in as my heat protector because it helps me detangle and it adds a barrier from the heat to my hair. This is going to help you with breakage, allowing your hair to grow longer and stronger.

If you have extremely dry damaged hair you should really invest in the Restore deep conditioning mask. I have had mixed feelings about deep conditioners in the past but this one GOES TO WORK. I had a client with really severe damage, could barely get a brush through her hair. She used the mask for a month and came back and her hair was like silk! I was a believer after that.

Other tips to keep your hair healthy is to not over wash it. There is just no need to you are drying it out and then using excess heat. Try to go at least every other day!

Congratulations if you made it to this end of reading this! Please let me know if you have any more questions on specific hair care

Xoxo
